It will move from mole’s asses in January to hot ketchup in July. A shame it won’t be across the entire model line but it’s certainly a welcome change. My family might even consider another Crosstrek now, in the proper sport trim of course.

I looked at one of these but didn’t even test drive it once I  saw in reviews how slow they are. This is a welcome change!

I still regret spending good forester money on one. But my wife liked it so...

Eh, they’re not as bad as everyone makes them seem. They’re perfectly acceptable for their intended purpose.

I usually disagree about stuff being slow. The most I’ve had was 2600lbs, 170hp and 200ish torques and paired with a 5-speed and my solid iron foot that felt like a rocketship (anything above 80mph here is lose your license and now you walk home type stuff). I wonder if I would find the cross trek as gutless as other oppos.

I can’t complain. It’s not quite a second quicker to 60 than my ‘09 Forester was  with the 2.5L and I’m getting at least 8mpg better in all driving situations.

Possibly, but they’re really known for struggling in the mountains. NA engines can lose give or take 3% power for every 1000ft in elevation and Crosstreks are known for struggling to hold the speed limit on I-70 through the Rockies, at around 7k-12k feet.

Agreed. My mom has a 2019 she loves and it’s an adequate amount of power. It’s not fast but it keeps up with traffic easily enough.

That said the NA 2.5 makes nice torque and her 2017 Outback was slightly quicker than the 2.0 Crosstrek.

THIS. And then they pull into the left lane to pass a truck and bo g down the whole highway.

I drove a friends when she was laid up, I found it perfectly acceptable for a commuter. It won’t win any races, but it’s more than enough for 99.9% of the population.
